Watermelons!
Watermelons are delicious. And in the past they were a sign of success. (Little history for you.) And they make you pee. All in all they're a great fruit. But alas, no one knows how to pick one! You see people knocking on them in stores, but no one really knows what they're listening for. (I think.) Well, that's a nice little something on watermelons. Now I want some. I WANT WATERMELON BUT MY SISTER ATE IT ALL WAAAH!!! I'm good.

I did some google research on how to thump a watermelon. My theory is correct that a good thump means it is ripe enough, but could also mean that it is too ripe. One watermelon farmer says that smelling the melon is the best way to judge. Apparently, once it is off the vine, a watermelon will not continue to ripen, but will just get soggy and nasty. So, picking one before it is ripe enough makes it not taste as good. There must be a better way to find the perfect balance of ripe and sweet, but not over-ripe and grainyyucky! Perhaps an Arduino controlled sugar infrared sensor?
