This blog will have everything from scientific theories to my life to me typing random stuff. Some posts will be serious and some will be crazy. Enjoy!
What is the "volatility" of a gas or liquid? What's the difference between "deflagration" and "explosion"? What is "oxidation"?
I'm curious, because I want to know why we use lighter fluid instead of gasoline to start charcoal (other than taste). I think it has to do with the speed of combustion.
Did you know that a pound of coal yields 5 times more heat than a pound of nitroglycerin? We use nitroglycerin as a medicine at the hospital, and since it has to be stored in glass bottles, I always psych out the students by telling them it will explode if they drop it! hehe...
My neurology hero Oliver Sacks says that no matter how bad your brain is (smooshed, broke, ran-over by a marshmallow truck), a human cannot lose their sense of rhythm. Perhaps it is drums that makes humans different than monkeys?

What is rhythm? What is time?
