How Mining Got Started

I've been wondering how humans started mining for metal and stuff like that. Well, I found this website: http://www.ss.mtu.edu/IA/IAWeb/martfaq.html. From what I can tell, people started mining from rock near the surface and stream beds, then started progressing farther down. That's sort of what my theory was. Well, for the blog status update, I've had almost 300 views in my first two weeks! And with less than 700 for my other blog, which is about a year old, this blog is much more succesful. Let's just hope it stays that way!
